The main drivers for the increase on cocoa/chocolate are the bad start of the Ivorian crop, speculators maintaining long positions, and a projected cocoa deficit linked to concerns over heavy rains affecting the quality of West-African crops. This has led to large and unprecedented increases in cocoa prices over the past 6-12 months and there seems to be no respite from the challenges as we approach 2024.
